Since I live in dormitory and it's been my second year, I know
some facts both teachers and students can not deny. I know exactly how the dorm
students behave and their responses towards changes. The first example is when
there comes new persons at school or dormitory the news and the following facts
of those newbie would spread up and reach the speed of 4 ears every second.
Yes, I truly did the calculation. They often have the same paradigm about that
certain thing. They influence each other. When you enter a non-military
dormitory, it’s not something odd finding 2 or more students on the corner
having a talk about random topics. Considering that they live 24 hours for
school, the catch-up session is usually around school thingy as well. Some
complain about difficulty in certain subjects, some gossip the teacher, some
share their knowledge, and some are busy grading their favorite teachers.
Grading the teachers? Is that acceptable?
It is true that the dictionary has defined that school is a place where students learn and teachers teach. But apart from the
definition itself, can’t the feedback happen here? Is the improvement and learning process only available for students? Is the teacher the best in all aspect? Can’t teachers also learn a lesson in school? This thing should also work in the
opposite direction. Teachers should also learn from the students, not in science or experience
obviously but through the
students’ testimonies over the teachers. They ought to do reflection through the opinion
scratches of their students and fix themselves. Competition in schools is not only for students, but more
than that, teachers also compete
in winning over students. If the students’ heart has become
theirs, teaching and learning
process in schools will be
a lot easier. Some may ask why the
teachers should win their
students’ heart when they
are more needed rather than requires the students. Well, I’ll say that it’s all wrong. Both sides need each other. Without students, teachers’ lofty goals will not be delivered. Without teachers, students’ dream will impossibly come
true. Symbiosis happens here. That is the reason why favorite teacher rankings are legalized.
On the other hand, it becomes something less proper when the students expressed their opinions in improper way. Booing teacher behind, backbiting them, and spread the rumors that are not true about the teachers they don’t
like for instance. The question
is, have your teacher ever booed you when your grade drops? Have they ever insulted your stupidity? No. They help you. They, in different ways of teaching according toexplanation their individual personalities, will try to teach you in more details. How confusing their is, at
least they try. Even though it’s not as
perfect as you expected, what is so wrong about respecting? Just like you, who want your A grade, and you’ve already tried, but still
can’t be the best. Remember, God
appreciates your effort, not result.
Expressing an opinion is not something which is considered wrong. That is the right of every single individual. Expressing an opinion
towards one person is the right of everybody. Students,
as example, can possibly comment on their teachers’ way of teaching. Otherwise,
teachers can also legally express their opinions about certain students. All of it is fairly acceptable as long as that is in the right corridor. For it
does not sense any libel, the law would definitely allow it to happen. Sometimes, people need opinions; people need to
know how they look like from others’ perspectives so that it’ll drive them to
make improvement and betterment of their quality.
